The Unified Solution

Positive Material Identification (PMI)

Versa Inspectors use Proceq’s cutting edge PMI Equotip portable hardness tester, allowing us to inspect almost any manufactured metal part, polished object or
heat-treated surface. This technology has become the standard for hardness testing in the automotive, aerospace, research, energy, manufacturing, oil and gas and transportation industries.

XRF
Externally Referenced Remote Field Technology (XRFT) is an electromagnetic technique that utilizes the Remote Field phenomena to create a naturally balanced system by using an external reference to reduce the effects of unwanted noise.
OES/LIBS
OES analysis in PMI is used to verify elemental composition and grade identification of alloys in metals.  A comprehensive PMI program safeguards your facility from alloy mix-ups which can cause costly accidents.  In the Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) technique, atoms are excited; this excitation energy comes from a spark formed between the sample and electrode. By measuring the intensity of the peaks in this spectrum, the OES analyzer can produce qualitative and quantitative analysis of the material composition. Although OES is considered a nondestructive testing method, the spark does leave a small burn on the sample surface. One of the key reasons OES technology is chosen over XRF is OES’s superiority in the measurement of light elements in metals like carbon and aluminum and in the measurement of aluminum in aluminum alloys.
