In science, the Combustion method is used to determine the elemental composition (more precisely empirical formula) of a pure organic compound by combusting the sample under conditions where the resulting combustion products can be quantitatively analyzed. Our Heat Treat division uses this same practice on a larger scale, testing industrial materials and metals by subduing those materials under heat stress. The combustion method is typically used in Refractory Dry Outs, Paint Cures, Furnace PWHT, and Post weld heat treatment of large vessels, towers, and reactors. The key here is functionality. We can determine if the metals or material will be functional using this technique.
